Shockwave Therapy is a new non-invasive treatment that uses a special machine with high-energy sound waves to stimulate the body and increase cell activity, blood flow, create new blood vessels and reduce pain.
This treatment is particularly useful for persistent tendon problems like tendinitis, tendinosis, and tendinopathies that have not recovered from other treatments. Current research shows it can be very useful for plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, and calcific tendinitis of the shoulder.
If you have a persistent tendon problem, our team of Physiotherapists and Chiropractors at Westpoint Health can provide Shockwave Therapy for you, which is included in our normal consultation fee.
Shockwave therapy sessions aren't designed to be painful, and feel like something tapping over the area being treated. Some people can feel a bit of discomfort during the session, and many others feel immediate relief afterwards. The intensity of the treatment can be adjusted on the machine to make sure you're always comfortable.
